Some weeks ago we were in Rome waiting for the flight to come back from China, I was destroyed. It was a bit noisy too because full of professionals on Friday night. At a certain point the business man sitting behind me started to chat-chat with the mobile and, one eye up, one eye down, it was a bit impracticable to not listen to his words. However, from that relevant episode I remained myself on the following question, when he said "later..I want to talk with you about something..I have discovered..how to call everywhere for free..interesting, mh?" which damned of technology he was meaning?

You have to be able to analyze detailed product spec, if available, and the quality of the object generally depends on the manufacturer labor standards. Because of that, sometimes, proprietary batteries could have more high capacity than standard batteries. Nevertheless, when the battery died, you are still depending on the manufacturer: if the battery production was been stopped because no profitable you could lose all, equipment included. Proprietary batteries make your life difficult, unpredictable and without choice too when the matter are gadgets like mobiles or camcorders.

 

 

Standard batteries can be of different size, usually AA or AAA, of different type, Alkaline, NiCd, NiMH, with different level of capacities, and moreover are widely available. Standard batteries life depends on the equipment consumption and battery capacity. Market enquires manufacturers to consider energy consumption during the product design: when standard batteries are adopted, hopefully, their usage is suitable for the kind of equipment. As today batteries formats will be widely available for years ahead your gadget life doesn't depend on the manufacturer choices: when the batteries are died get to the next shop or supermarket to find something to replace them with.
